Figura 1 Presentamos el caso de una paciente de 44 años, con retraso mental y epilepsia como antecedentes más destacados, que sufre un atragantamiento mientras comía carne de conejo. Tras una primera exploración con fibroscopia flexible, se realiza TAC cervico-torácico, donde se aprecia aumento de partes blandas de localización retrofaríngea y moderada cantidad de enfisema subcutáneo y prevertebral. En la reconstrucción del TAC con eliminación de partes blandas (fig. 1), se observa la presencia de un cuerpo extraño de densidad ósea y morfología de vértebra, localizado posterior al cartílago cricoides y que provoca obliteración parcial de la vía aérea. Se procede a intubación de la paciente para realización de fibroscopia rígida, con la que se consigue extraer la vértebra de conejo. Tras 24 horas en ventilación mecánica, la paciente es extubada, siguiendo posteriormente una evolución favorable.
